Last year The Mayors’ Feed the Hungry Food Drive yielded over 43 tons of food!

Again this year, volunteer members of the Mayors’ Feed the Hungry Program Committee, took on the task of contacting area schools, businesses and civic organizations to participate in our annual holiday food drive.Numerous locations are participating this year.fooddrive“With hundreds of school students participating, area teachers use the food drive as a real-life community service lesson teaching students the value of sharing with those who are less fortunate,”.Culminating in the afternoon on the Friday before Thanksgiving at Ed Smith Stadium, spring training home of the Baltimore Orioles, food items will be immediately sorted and distributed to the member agencies of the Mayors’ Feed the Hungry Program Committee — ultimately providing meals for the hungry in Sarasota and Manatee counties during the upcoming holiday season. The public is invited to bring donations Ed Smith Stadium, 2700 12th Street, Sarasota FL any time from November 6th through the day of the food drive, November 21st.”The public is also invited to drop off non-perishable food items at Harvest Church, 209 North Lime Street in Sarasota,” says Joel Swallow, chairman of the Mayors’ Feed the Hungry Program Committee. “This is an on-going drive that supplies the Free Indeed Food Bank. All donations are sincerely needed and greatly appreciated. Please continue to help feed as many as you can.”

Become a Food Drop-Off Location

Participation is easy – Simply contact us and we will drop off food collection boxes to your location. Your job is to encourage people to fill those boxes. Then, we will return on the morning of Friday Nov. 21st to pick up all the food you have collected. It’s that easy!
